Mark pursued university studies, joined the Canadian Forces, and embarked on a software engineering and business career. CFP

Not left, not right, but forward.

The Canadian Future Party offers Canadians a choice they haven’t had for a long time: a party with a clear set of principles governing our decisions. The first principle? Democracy. That means fair elections free from interference, the rule of law, free speech, and an independent media: an open society where we work together to achieve more than we can achieve alone.

That means recognizing both the power of the free market and its limitations: governments and markets do some things well, and some things badly. How do we decide? Evidence. Science. Proof. And the courage to acknowledge our mistakes.

That means politics based on values. We know democracy is fragile. Laws at home must be enforced – or repealed. Our leaders and civil service must show, every day., that democracy can deliver. And until the world is safe for democracy it won’t be safe for Canadians; our decisions must push for more trade with democracies and a clean break with dictators.

The CFP is inspired by the mandate our country’s founders imposed: for government to deliver peace, order, and good government. Our country has become vastly more wealthy, freer, and fairer, since the Fathers of Confederation did their work. Our job is to write the next chapter of positive change. We don’t know what the results will be; all we can do is our best.
