A proud Cape Bretoner, Chris Gallant grew up in New Victoria, just outside New Waterford, near Low Point Lighthouse. As the son of a coal miner, he learned early on the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of supporting one another—values that have shaped his career and commitment to public service.
For over 16 years, Chris has been a dedicated educator at Allison Bernard Memorial High School in Eskasoni, where he has helped guide and inspire the next generation. He has been privileged to have learned as much from them as they have from him. In addition to his work in the classroom, he has been a strong advocate for workers' rights, serving as treasurer, shop steward, and a member of the collective bargaining team in his union.
Chris is a published author of two books, demonstrating his passion for writing. His dedication to community service extends beyond education and writing—he is an active member of his church, serving as a lector and parish council member, and he is a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, honoring the service and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans.
Like many in Cape Breton, Chris understands the challenges of rising costs, economic uncertainty, and the difficult choices families must make every day. He has seen friends and family leave in search of opportunity and knows firsthand the struggles of those trying to make ends meet at home. But he also believes in the strength and resilience of Cape Bretoners—their ability to come together, support one another, and build a better future.
Chris is running for office because he believes Cape Bretoners deserve a future where all can find success. He is ready to listen, to act, and to work hard for a Cape Breton where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
